FORUMDOC | Sessão de Abertura

A Associação Filmes de Quintal e a FAFICH (Faculdade de Filosofias e Ciências Humanas) da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais realizam o vigésimo segundo festival do filme documentário e etnográfico de antropologia e cinema em Belo Horizonte. Com mais de sessenta filmes nacionais e internacionais o festival acontece do dia 22/11 ao dia 02/12.

Para iniciar a programação do FORUMDOC 2018, a sessão de abertura contou com a exibição de dois grandes filmes da mostra EBÓ EJÉ no Cine Humberto Mauro.

O primeiro filme exibido foi um curta metragem de quatro minutos dirigido por Cristina Amaral e Raquel Gerber. Abá foi realizado no ano de 1992 e retrata o candomblé, a cultura africana e suas transmutações no cenário brasileiro. Abá significa esperança de paz espiritual. A crença na luz e a chegada no estado de contemplação. Assim como o significado do título sugere, percebemos o diálogo entre o terreno e o transcendental.

O segundo filme exibido foi Orí, um longa metragem do ano de 1989, dirigido também por Raquel Gerber e produzido pela Angra Filmes Ltda. Assim como Abá, Orí nos apresenta a relação entre a cultura africana e a brasileira, as dificuldades encontradas para uma construção e reconhecimento da identidade negra, a luta pela igualdade, a importância dos quilombos e a presença dos cultos religiosos.

A mediação da sessão foi conduzida por Ewerton Belico e comentada por Cristina Amaral, Raquel Gerber e Makota Valdina. Foram colocados em pauta durante o debate, questões como o lugar de fala do interlocutor ao representar uma cultura não hegemônica e a importância da presença de comunicadores das próprias comunidades.

A mostra apresentada na abertura - EBÓ EJÉ, Cinema Brasileiro e Afro-religiões - inclui filmes de diferentes épocas e formatos, que tem o principal propósito conversar com as manifestações religiosas afro-brasileiras assim como o Candomblé, a Umbanda, Quimbanda e o Bantu. FORUMDOC | Opening Season

The Associação Filmes de quintal and FAFICH (College of Philosophy and Human Sciences) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais hold the twenty-second festival of the documentary and ethnographic film of anthropology and cinema in Belo Horizonte.

The festival takes place from 22/11 to 02/12 with over 60 national and international films. To begin the FORUMDOC 2018 programming, the opening session featured two big films from the EBÓ EJÉ show at Cine Humberto Mauro.

The first film screened was a short four-minute film directed by Cristina Amaral and Raquel Gerber. Abá was realized in the year of 1992 and it portrays candomblé, African culture and its transmutations in the Brazilian scenario. Abá means hope for spiritual peace. The belief in the light and the arrival in the state of contemplation. Just as the meaning of the title suggests, we perceive the dialogue between the earthly and the transcendental.

The second film shown was Orí, a feature film of the year 1989, also directed by Raquel Gerber and produced by Angra Filmes Ltda. Like Abá, Orí presents us with the relationship between African and Brazilian culture, the difficulties encountered for the construction and recognition of black identity, the struggle for equality, the importance of quilombos and the presence of religious cults.

The mediation of the session was conducted by Ewerton Belico and commented by Cristina Amaral, Raquel Gerber and Makota Valdina. During the debate, the issues that were put in the agenda were the place of the speaker's speech when representing a non-hegemonic culture and the importance of the presence of communicators of the communities themselves.

The show presented at the opening - EBÓ EJÉ, Brazilian Cinema and Afro-religions - includes films from different periods and formats, whose main purpose is to talk with Afro-Brazilian religious manifestations such as Candomblé, Umbanda, Quimbanda and Bantu.

The festival also offers the shows: Brazilian Contemporary, International Contemporary and Special Sessions (premiere).
