Ontem, terça-feira, dia 20 de novembro foi o Dia da Consciência Negra no Brasil e, não só para honrar essa data tão especial, mas também para informar da estreia maravilhosa de um filme de um diretor negro, o Clube do Monóculo traz a crÃtica de Infiltrado na Klan (Blackkklansman).
A constante da existência do homem capitalista é um ciclo de intolerâncias e preconceitos perpetuados por gerações, que contribuÃram ativamente na fundação da sociedade ocidental como ela é nos dias de hoje. Infiltrado na Klan, de Spike Lee, estreou esse ano no Festival de Cinema de Cannes e retrata bem a persistência do racismo nos dias de hoje.
O filme, baseado em fatos reais, conta a história de Ron Stallworth (Don David Washington), o primeiro negro a ser admitido na polÃcia de uma pequena cidade no interior dos Estados Unidos que, por iniciativa própria, se envolve numa investigação sobre a Klu Klux Klan. Essa “organização" – de acordo com os próprios membros – é uma milÃcia que defende e comporta ideais extremistas e reacionários de ordem xenofóbica, homofóbica, antissemita, racista...Entre várias outras coisas. É importante dizer que, nos Estados Unidos, a formação de milÃcias não é crime enquanto, no Brasil, é.
A narrativa começa ambientando o protagonista no sistema essencialmente racista da polÃcia e demonstrando sua insatisfação com os colegas de trabalho e a maneira com que negros são tratados com desdém dentro da instituição. Ron só é admitido um novo cargo, a qual ele admite preferir para o chefe, quando tem que investigar uma palestra importante para o grêmio de estudantes negros da universidade local, onde se interessa por Patrice (Laura Harrier), a presidente e organizadora de tudo. É esse trabalho, contudo, que o coloca dentro do serviço de inteligência da polÃcia e o leva à Klan.
A investigação e a, então, infiltração no grupo é dada de forma completamente conturbada e envolve pessoalmente mais um colega do personagem, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) que, apesar de branco, é judeu – um dos grupos que os integrantes da organização investigada mais detestam.
A narrativa segue repleta de momentos tão trágicos quanto cômicos, deliciosamente recheados por uma trilha sonora brilhante e bem trabalhada, seguindo ambos os personagens envolvidos nas investigações, nos seus altos e baixos.
Infiltrado na Klan é um filme que envolve de maneira muito natural e sensÃvel, começando facilmente reflexões que, apesar, da época da narrativa, são completamente atuais, como a criação e perpetuação de padrões de beleza, violência policial, machismo, intolerância religiosa e xenofobia. Mas não só transmitindo as ideias aos seus espectadores de forma didática: inserindo seus personagens nesses mesmos dilemas vividos por todos.
As atuações são um deleite a parte, assim como a direção minuciosamente pensada, que recheia todos os quadros com composições belÃssimas, repletas de representações semióticas bem colocadas, cronologia fiel ao momento histórico e uma paleta de cores de dar inveja. Entre todas os adjetivos possÃveis, talvez o que mais se encaixe para a direção seja: sensual; é impossÃvel tirar os olhos da tela, cada segundo que se passa frente ao filme, é um centÃmetro a mais rumo a beira do assento.
De uma forma ou de outra, é fácil se identificar com a essa obra de Spike Lee que, não coincidentemente, levou o Grande Prêmio do Júri no Festival de Cannes.
Tudo soa muito Ãntimo e pessoal para ser deixado de lado.
É, definitivamente, um trabalho para emocionar: para rir, chorar, sentir tristeza e revolta. Contudo, mais que tudo, esperançosamente, é uma obra para levantar discussões, aprender as consequências históricas presentes nas ações das autoridades e compreender o papel do cidadão comum na desconstrução desse ciclo vicioso de intolerância que envenena o nosso cotidiano, num momento em que tudo minimamente empático é taxado negativamente.
Infiltrado na Klan estreia nos cinemas amanhã, dia 22 de novembro, no Brasil!

If there’s a constant in the existence of the capitalist world is the cycle of intolerances and prejudices perpetuated by generations that have actively contributed to the founding of Western society as it is today. Blackkklansman, by Spike Lee, debuted this year at the Cannes Film Festival and portrays well the persistence of racism these days.
The film, based on real events, tells the story of Ron Stallworth (Don David Washington), the first black man to be admitted to the police in a small town in the United States who, on his own initiative, engages in an investigation on the Klu Klux Klan. This "organization" - according to its own members - is a militia that defends and embraces extremist and reactionary ideals of xenophobic, homophobic, anti-Semitic, racist character ... Among other things. It’s worth to note, however, that the formation of militias is not a crime in the USA while in Brazil it is.
The narrative begins by setting the protagonist in the essentially racist police system and demonstrating his dissatisfaction with his co-workers and the way in which black people are treated with disdain within the institution. Ron is only admitted to a new position, which he admits he prefers for the boss, when he has to investigate an important lecture for the black student union of the local university where he gets interested in Patrice (Laura Harrier), the president and organizer of everything. It is this job, however, that puts him inside the police intelligence service and takes him to the Klan.
The investigation and then infiltration into the group is given in a completely unsettled manner and involves personally another character colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) who, though white, is Jewish - one of the groups that the members of the investigated organization loathe.
The narrative continues full of moments that are both tragic and comic, delightfully filled with a brilliant and well thought soundtrack, following both characters involved in the investigations, as well as their ups and downs.
Blackkklansman is a film that involves us in a very natural and sensitive way, easily starting off reflections that, despite the time of the narrative, are completely current, such as the creation and perpetuation of standards of beauty, police violence, sexism, religious intolerance and xenophobia. But not only by transmitting ideas to their viewers in a didactic way: inserting their characters in these same dilemmas lived by us all.
The performances are a delight itself, as well as the carefully thought direction, which filled all the frames with beautiful compositions, full of well-placed semiotic representations, faithful chronology regarding its historical moment and a colours pallet to die for. Among all possible adjectives, perhaps the most fitting for the direction is: sexy; it is impossible to take your eyes off the screen, every second that passes by, is an inch further towards the edge of the seat.
In one way or another, it is easy to identify with this work by Spike Lee who, not coincidentally, took the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
Everything seems too intimate and personal to let go off.
It is definitely a job to thrill: to laugh, to cry, to feel sadness and revolt. However, most of all, hopefully, it is a work to raise discussions, to learn the historical consequences of the neglects seen in the actions of authorities and to understand the role of the ordinary citizens in the deconstruction of this vicious cycle of intolerance that poisons our daily life, at a time when everything is minimally empathy is negatively charged.
Infiltrated in Klan will debut in theaters tomorrow, November 22, in Brazil!
