La Mujer de Los Perros

Uma mulher caminha em silêncio através de um campo. Vários cachorros a acompanham. Não ouvimos vozes humanas, apenas o som do ambiente ao seu redor – o pisar das folhas, o canto dos passarinhos, a respiração e o barulho do vento. Assim se inicia o misterioso percurso da Mulher dos Cachorros, um filme realizado pela produtora El Pampero Cine, homenageada na 12ª edição da Mostra CineBH. Dirigido por Laura Citarella e Verónica Llinás.

O longa-metragem se passa no interior da Argentina, nas mediações de Buenos Aires. Nossa protagonista é uma mulher que pouco conhecemos, não sabemos o seu nome, de onde ela veio e nem para onde ela gostaria de ir. Seus grandes (e únicos) companheiros são os cachorros que estão presentes em todas suas atividades diárias; desde comer, dormir, até fazer suas necessidades fisiológicas. Este cotidiano é retratado de maneira bastante intimista, utilizando de planos detalhe e câmera na mão nas cenas de ações minuciosas, trazendo um tom documental para a ficção.

Percebemos desde o princípio que o fato do filme ter a direção,fotografia e trilha composta por mulheres faz com que a temática da força feminina esteja presente com muita intensidade a narrativa inteira. É perceptível a intensão de se discutir a natureza da humanidade, traçando comparações entre o ser humano e os cachorros. Até que ponto nossas espécies são tão distintas assim?

La mujer de los perros não propõe uma revolução ou um momento de clímax em seu enredo. Não temos um conflito estabelecido mas conseguimos sentir empatia pela situação precária com a qual a personagem se encontra. Tampouco tem diálogo – sua potência é revelada no simples fato da existência das personagens e das transformações da natureza. São seres que estão alí vivendo. Não há pressa para realizar alguma tarefa ou conseguir algo. Eles só são. Assim como a natureza é.

O filme é dividido pelas estações do ano e em cada uma delas, percebemos vantagens e desvantagens. No verão por exemplo, é um período de muita chuva o que faz com que a mulher e seus cachorros fiquem impossibilitados de sair com uma grande frequência porém também conseguem coletar bastante água. A realidade não é necessariamente boa ou ruim, ela só está em constante transformação. Em determinado momento a personagem adoece e vai ao hospital. É prescrito por uma médica o uso de um antibiótico e na fila do posto de saúde a mulher desiste e vai embora. Ela não piora e a vida segue.

Novamente nos questionamos, por quê esta mulher toma essas atitudes? Por quê ela não aceita o medicamento? Por quê ela vive isolada em seu barraco na presença apenas de seus cães? Esta situação lhe foi imposta, assim como é para diversas mulheres latino americanas que lutam por sua sobrevivência ou foi uma decisão da própria personagem viver desta maneira? Teria a mulher tomado a atitude de abandonar seus bens de consumo e se isolar para viver uma vida simples?

O filme não se propõe a responder essas perguntas. Com longos planos gerais – do campo, dos animais à distância e dos sons da natureza – recebemos um convite. O convite de apenas contemplar o passar do tempo, dos espaços e uma distinta forma de se conduzir a vida.

A woman walks in silence across a field. Several dogs accompany her. We do not hear human voices, only the sound of the environment around you - the footsteps of the leaves, the song of the birds, the breath and the sound of the wind. Thus begins the mysterious course of the La Mujer de Los Perros , a film made by the producer El Pampero Cine, honored in the 12th edition of CineBH Festival. Directed by Laura Citarella and Verónica Llinás.

The feature film takes place in the interior of Argentina, in the Buenos Aires mediations. Our protagonist is a woman we hardly know, we do not know her name, where she came from or where she wanted to go. Their great (and only) companions are the dogs that are present in all their daily activities; from eating, sleeping, to doing their physiological needs. This daily is portrayed in a very intimate way, using detailed plans and camera in hand in the scenes of minute actions, bringing a documentary tone to the fiction.

We realize from the beginning that the fact that the film has the direction, photograph and track composed by women makes the theme of the female force is present with great intensity the whole narrative. The intensity of discussing the nature of humanity, drawing comparisons between the human being and the dogs, is perceptible. To what extent are our species so distinct?

La mujer de los perros does not propose a revolution or a moment of climax in its plot. We do not have an established conflict but we can empathize with the precarious situation with which the character is. Nor does it have dialogue - its power is revealed in the simple fact of the existence of the characters and the transformations of nature. They are beings who are living there. There is no rush to accomplish any task or achieve something. They just are. Just as nature is.

The film is divided by the seasons of the year and in each of them, we perceive advantages and disadvantages. In summer, for example, it is a very rainy period which makes the woman and her dogs unable to leave with a high frequency, but also can collect enough water. Reality is not necessarily good or bad, it is only constantly changing. At one point the character becomes ill and goes to the hospital. It is prescribed by a doctor the use of an antibiotic and in the queue of the health post the woman gives up and leaves. It does not worsen and life goes on.

Again we wonder, why does this woman take these actions? Why does not she take the medicine? Why does she live alone in her shack in the presence of only her dogs? Has this situation been imposed on you, just as it is for several Latin American women who are struggling for their survival, or was it their own decision to live this way? Did the woman take the attitude of abandoning her consumer goods and isolating herself to live a simple life?

The film does not intend to answer these questions. With long overarching plans-from the countryside, from animals at a distance, and from the sounds of nature-we received an invitation. The invitation to only contemplate the passage of time, the spaces and a different way of leading the life.
